JBS Brooklyn gets a green touch

Trees at JBSJBS, an abattoir in Brooklyn, has begun transforming its mostly sparse site with the planting of a new grove of trees. Smooth barked apple myrtles will provide shade and amenity for JBS staff, and in the long term, help keep dust emitted from the site to a minimum.

JBS was nominated as a pilot project by the Greening the West Steering Committee, with the group keen to support projects that span public as well as private spaces. JBS management is looking to play its part in greening the west and further plantings at the site are anticipated.
